Founding Philosophy

Tom Knox, CEO CareFamily Virginia

Many years ago my beloved grandmother was neglected in a care facility. From that experience of watching her suffer needlessly, and the negative effect it had on my family, I vowed to "Change the Way America Ages.“ Helping seniors became the central mission of my life.

It inspired me to build an in-home care organization that could serve the families of Virginia as well as all across America. I am humbled that our care organization has allowed so many thousands of seniors to achieve their wish to remain independent and continue living at home – exactly where they want to be.

Our goal is to treat your family just like we want our families to be treated, and to meet you wherever you are on your senior care journey.

So whether you are looking for private duty agency care, consumer/self directed care, government-supplemented care, or specialty care such as respite, hospice, or live-in care, let us show you how we can tailor a program that fits not only your care needs, but also fits your budget.

We understand first-hand the many challenges families face when they choose to care for a senior loved one at home. I personally pledge to do all I can to partner with you and make your experience the best it can possibly be. I’d be honored if you’d give us a call.

Our Principles

  • We will treat the families we serve as we would treat our own family members
  • We will create services that provide caregivers with opportunities, respect and dignity
  • We are committed to finding caregivers who have a heart for serving seniors
  • We pledge to find solutions as we strive to “Change the Way America Ages”
  • We will conduct ourselves and our business in a God-honoring way

Customer Testimonials

"Your company worked with me through a difficult circumstance concerning care for my mother using her existing long-term care policy. I also called into question the honesty of your caregiver at one point. Despite these challenges your staff continued to try and “make it right” even including waiving a number of charges we disputed. Thank you for being consistent and fair with my family even when the going was tough." - Margo S.

"I just wanted to thank you for the caregiver you assigned to my mother. Your caregiver, Ursula H., has been an asset to our home in the caring of my mom. She has a professional attitude and treats my mom in a meaningful way, including the tone of her voice and the patience she shows through difficult times such as giving mom a bath. - Mrs. Oree C.

I am writing to let you know that my caregiver, Ellen H., is very dependable and always on time. She is also very kind and has a good heart. She is helpful in helping me even when I am very sick. She is always neat and clean which is definitely an asset." - Debra R.

"Our Aide, Bernice, is especially good with my husband and she gets him to do things that I cannot. We are very satisfied with the care we are receiving. Both my husband and I look forward to Bernice’s visits which are not only professional, but personal as well. We are very appreciative of the services we receive." - Mrs. Mason.
